Obligatory Medical Insurance for Travelers to Belarus
To apply for visa and for staying in Belarus foreign citizens are required to have medical insurance policy in case of getting emergency medical assistance in Belarus.

Health insurance contract should:
-contain the name of the foreign insurance company and its location, phone numbers or international assistance services as well as surname, first name, patronymic name (if any) of foreign citizen;
-distribute its effect on the territory of the Republic of Belarus;
-be valid for the period of temporary staying or temporary residence of foreign citizen in the Republic of Belarus;
-provide the insurance amount of not less than 10,000 euros.
Verification of the foreign citizen’s contract of health insurance is carried out at State Border checkpoints of the Republic of Belarus and while accepting package of documents for visa.
The existence of health insurance contract may be confirmed by insurance policy, insurance card or other document containing information about the health insurance contract.
Foreign citizens are refused entry to the Republic of Belarus with no insurance policies (insurance cards).
The insurance policy (card) presented at checkpoints should include the following:
-last name, first name, patronymic name (if any) of foreign citizen, it is possible to indicate in the same insurance policy several insured foreign citizens who together enter Belarus or attach the list of insured foreign citizens who are covered by medical insurance contract;
-the term of insurance contract;
-territory covered – the Republic of Belarus or worldwide.
Insurance policy should have an official translation into one of the official languages of the Republic of Belarus for registering foreign citizens who stay in Belarus for more than 5 days.

Medical insurance is not required for:
- heads of the foreign states and governments, members of the parliamentary, governmental and official delegations invited by the governing bodies of the Republic of Belarus and technical personnel of these delegations;
- heads and members of the diplomatic and consular missions, representations of the international organizations in the Republic of Belarus and their family members;
- United Nations employees — holders the Laissez-Passer issued by the United Nations;
- crew members of the international air flights and crew members of the trains of the international routes;
- foreign air force crew members and other military personnel who arrive in the Republic of Belarus to take part in the military exercises;
- persons residing in the Republic of Belarus as the representatives of the foreign border guard authorities;
- citizens of the states that have bilateral agreement with the Republic of Belarus that regulates medical emergency services;
- foreigners that apply for a refugee status in the Republic of Belarus;
- foreigners who transit Belarus via National airport Minsk if they have a single ticket and stay at the airport does not exceed 24 hours.
